A Few “Don'ts” Before We Begin
Don't drink alcohol.
Any form of alcohol is off the table before a treatment. Massages release bodily toxin into the bloodstream so that they can be flushed out. Alcohol, when combined with these toxins, makes the bad effects of alcohol so much worse. It's also a lot harder to relax when you're drunk!
Don't sunbathe.
It might be hard to resist if you're on holiday but sunbathing before a massage is a bad idea. Experts recommend that you avoid direct sunlight if you can before your massage treatment, to avoid sunburn, which can make a massage very unpleasant indeed.
As an aside, it's also advisable that, if you feel ill, please do not come to your deep tissue massage in Glasgow. Also, please do not go in for any grooming treatments, such as waxing or body hair removal before your massage.
A Few “Dos” For Afterwards
Stick to the shade for the rest of the day.
This one is especially relevant if you've come in for an aromatherapy massage, as many essential oils like lemon, orange, mandarin, lemongrass, bergamot, verbena and others in the citrus family are known to cause sun sensitivity.
Drink plenty of water.
It's very important to drink water soon after your treatment has concluded. This will help to rehydrate your body, increase blood flow and help flush out toxins from your body.
Rest up.
Once your treatment has ended, you'll be soothed and relaxed. Take advantage of that and rest of the remainder of the day, if you can. Your body will thank you!
Give the oils time to work.
Stay away from the shower for at least 2 hours after your treatment finishes. Give the oils time to work and your body time to fully absorb them into your skin. It's well worth the wait.
